Updates - June 2022

 

Hello and thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. 

Updates on our behind-the-scenes work:  

  • We received a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt designation.

  • We received a $65k grant from the Washtenaw County Brownfield Authority for conducting the Baseline Environmental Assessment. 

  • We anticipate the signing of the purchase agreement with Magellan to be imminent. 

  • We continue to develop strategic relationships, including - Chelsea Hospital, Chelsea State Bank, Chelsea Milling Company, Silver Maples, CRC/Brio Living Services, Chelsea School District, Washtenaw County Parks, 5 Healthy Towns, Main Street Church, Chelsea District Library, Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, DNR Trust Fund, Chelsea Historical Society, Chelsea Senior Center, Chelsea Ridge Association, Chelsea Community Foundation, Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, City of Chelsea, the new City Manager, and local nonprofits and businesses.

  • We participated in the Chelsea Expo, Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights, and at Chelsea Farmers Market. We answered questions and shared information about the project. 

  • We developed FAQs available on the website.  

  • We continue to expand the website as the project evolves - take a look at the History Page!

  • We have approximately 40% of funding committed!!

Community Wealth Building: Taking It to Our Small Towns

“We can and must proactively use and build partnerships to carry out this important, multi-faceted approach. Understanding that each community has varying circumstances and assets, this model can be flexibly applied.”


This article looks at elements in people’s lives that compromise success. The need for people to connect who support each other and themselves in localized ways brings a place to life and increases access to community resources and social networks. This part is firmly tied to ongoing work in diversity, equity, and inclusion, inviting the engagement of all residents where they are. Without people, a place is just a physical object.
