As we enter the season of giving, we all have the opportunity to be part of something transformative! Main Street Park Alliance is working to revitalize the neglected Federal Screw Works property into a vibrant community hub, and we need your help to make this vision a reality. Donate before year-end to help us fulfill our goal of a completed park in 2025!
We made great strides in 2024:
Completed the environmental assessment of the property
Implementing an EGLE-approved remediation plan
Received $1.8 million in grants to complete the remediation plan
Purchased adjacent residential property to aid in the environmental remediation
Completed demolition of blighted structures
Conducted robust community engagement to develop park plans
Continued focus group engagement with Viridis to finalize park design
Collaborated with the City of Chelsea to develop sustainable operation plans
Received City Council approval of park design
Environmental remediation is underway, and Park Installation & Excavation is removing approximately 7,000 tons (160 double gravel train trucks) of contaminated materials. Now, with your tax-deductible donation, you can help us reach our goal of completing new construction in 2025. "How is MSPA making the site safe?" Follow this link to learn how.
While the MSPA board continues pursuing additional grants, we would like your help. This project has always centered around imagining the possibilities for this 2.8-acre site. The plans include:
7,000 sf skate park designed for multiple ages and abilities
11,000 sf multi-sport and basketball courts
Two residential-sized bocce ball courts
Play and climbable sculptures
Michigan's first outdoor recreational bouldering wall
Four family public restrooms
A covered pavilion with a performance area and gathering space
175 new trees and 49,000 sf of native plantings, lawn, and landscape beds
.25 mile looped path
Winter activation gas fire pit and seating
As Giving Tuesday approaches and year-end tax planning is underway, we invite you to donate today.
